About Maldives

Climate

Maldives is an all-year travel destination with moderate temperatures all through. The period be tween November to March is viewed as the best to visit. The dry season has little downpour and lower stickiness; and it stretches from December to April. The wet season is much wetter, as there are more grounded breezes and downpours and stretches from May to November. There is an average of 8 hours of sunshine every day and the water temperature barely falls below 25°C.

How long is flight from UK?

Direct flights between London and Malé take between 10 to 11 hours. Connecting flights can be over in as little as 12 or 13 hours, depending on the length of the stopover.

Getting There

British Airways runs a direct flight from London to Malé. Other airlines like Emirates run a non-direct flight from London to Malé via Dubai. Transfers from Malé to the different island resorts are through seaplane, domestic flight or speed boat. Country status as an island nation makes getting around quite interesting. There is only one airport, and it is located on Hulhulé Island. Upon arrival at the Malé International Airport, guests are met by resort staff who then escort them to their resorts. Note that the airport is the only structure on this island. Getting to your resort will involve either a seaplane, yacht or water taxi. This makes for a very scenic water trip.

What to Do

Apart from relaxing and basking in the sun at one of the many surreal private islands, travellers can indulge in extraordinary fine dining experiences (underwater), do thrilling water sports on azure beaches, and explore beautiful marine life among other fabulous things, when on holiday.

Entry Requirements

Passports must be valid for at least 6 months for visitors from the date of entry. All visitors must hold legal tickets and documents for their return journey or onward travel. Visitors must have sufficient finances for the duration of their visit time.

The traditional Maldivian cuisine, also called Dhivehi cuisine, mainly consists of fresh fish, coconut, grains, vegetables and curries. This unique cuisine has strong influences from countries such as India and Sri Lanka.
